ATLANTA, Ga. - Syracuse Volleyball lost to No. 10 Georgia Tech in three sets (18-25, 21-15, 20-25) on Sunday afternoon at O'Keefe Gymnasium.Â
Â
"We had several chances to compete against Georgia Tech," said head coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam. "They took advantage of our inconsistencies today and it got the best of us. We had our chances today but we have to take advantage of our consistent moments moving forward."
  Â
Things began to heat up for the 'Cuse (10-10 overall, 6-4 ACC) in the second set, as the squad started off on a 3-0 run. Georgia Tech (15-4, 8-2) evened the score 10-10 and then went on an 8-0 run to give the home squad an 18-10 advantage. 'Cuse fought back to even the score, 20-20, on a run that included an ace from Viktoriia Lokhmanchuk and a block by Bre Walp and Polina Shemanova. GT then went on a 5-1 run to secure the second frame.Â
Â
Set three was a back-and-forth battle. A kill by Naomi Franco and an attack error from the home team put the Orange within three points, but the Yellow Jackets scored the final two points for the victory.Â
Â
Shemanova led the 'Cuse with14 kills and three service aces, while Lokhmanchuk had six kills and three service aces. Lokhmanchuk's 30 aces this season ranks seventh spot on the Syracuse single-season service-aces record list.Â
Â
The Orange will return to the Women's Building for a two-week home stand that starts with matches against Florida State on Oct. 28th at 7 p.m. and Miami on Oct. 30th at 1 p.m. this upcoming weekend.Â
