Syracuse (8-5, 1-1) and Boston College (7-6, 1-1) close out the 2022 portion of their schedules when they meet on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 2:00 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome.

SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse at Boston College enter the pairing with identical, 1-1 ACC records. The Orange have won five of their last six outings, with the lone blemish an 84-82 loss to Pittsburgh on Dec. 20. Boston College has posted consecutive wins against Stonehill (63-56) and Virginia Tech (70-65, OT).

SYRACUSE-BOSTON COLLEGE SERIES
Syracuse holds a 55-26 advantage in the all-time series with the Eagles, which extends back to the 1958-59 season. The Orange have claimed the last eight meetings with the Eagles, including a 76-56 triumph on Feb. 19, 2022. Syracuse has won 24-of-30 Dome contests with Boston College.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The Orange rallied from a 20-point, second-half deficit to narrow the gap against the Panthers to one point but Pittsburgh held on.

Freshman guard Judah Mintz tied his career-best effort with 24 points versus Pittsburgh. Senior guard Joseph Girard III had 16 points and first-year swingman Quadir Copeland had a collegiate-high 10 points.

ORANGE LEADERS
Mintz (15.6 ppg.) entered the weekend rankes sixth among Division I freshmen in scoring average. Girard (15.2 ppg.) and senior center Jesse Edwards (14.4 ppg.) round out the Orange averaging double-figure scoring. Edwards leads the ACC in rebound average (11.2 rpg.).

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Graduate guard Makai Ashton-Langford (11.5 ppg) and sophomore guard Jaeden Zackery (10.9 ppg.) represent Boston College's top two scorers. Senior forward TJ Bickerstaff has a squad-best 7.0 rebound average.

'CUSE FANS CAN VOTE FOR GIRARD
Senior Joseph Girard III is one of 20 players named to the 2023 Jerry West Award watch list, which is annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I college basketball. Orange fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for each of the three rounds. The list will be narrowed down to 10 in January, five in February, and the five finalists will be presented to Jerry West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected in March. MCNAMARA AND WARRICK JERSEY RETIREMENT
Twenty years after playing a major role in Syracuse's first NCAA Basketball Championship, Gerry McNamara '06 and Hakim Warrick '05 will have their Orange jerseys hoisted to the Dome rafters. The jersey retirements will take place on Sunday, March 4 when Syracuse hosts Wake Forest at 5:00 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome.

20TH ANNIVERSARY OF '03 CHAMPIONSHIP
Syracuse University Athletics will celebrate the 20^th Anniversary of the men's basketball program's 2003 NCAA Championship throughout the 2022-23 season, culminating with a reunion at the March 4 contest with Wake Forest. Members of the 2002-03 national title team have been invited to return to Syracuse for planned activities the weekend of March 3-5, 2023. The Orange are scheduled to host Wake Forest on Saturday, March 4, in the final regular-season contest of the campaign. Those from the 2002-03 squad who are able to return, will be recognized at the game.
