No. 3 seed Syracuse men's soccer will take on Creighton at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9 in the 2022 NCAA College Cup Semifinal. The Orange and Bluejays meet on the soccer pitch for the first time at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. with a spot in the National Championship on the line. The match will be live on ESPNU. No. 13 seed Indiana faceoff against Pittsburgh in the other semifinal showdown at the College Cup.Â
The Orange advance to the College Cup after beating Vermont 2-1 in the Elite Eight. Sophomore forward Curt Calov opened the scoring with a stunning goal directly from the corner flag in the 11th minute. After Vermont equalized in the 23rd minute, sophomore forward Nathan Opoku connected with attacking partner Levonte Johnson for the match-winner in the 42nd minute.Â
Head coach Ian McIntyre leads the Orange to its second College Cup appearance in school history. In 2015, McIntyre directed Syracuse to its first ever NCAA Semifinal appearance, a penalty shootout loss against Clemson in the 2015 NCAA College Cup Semifinal.
Â
Syracuse looks to make history against Creighton. A win would secure the Orange's first ever national championship appearance and the 18th win of the season, which would break the program's single-season win record.Â
