Curry and Dordevic kick season off on Saturday
Star Syracuse midfielders Tucker Dordevic and Brendan Curry both start the year on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List – the most prestigious award in college lacrosse.
The Tewaaraton, which was first awarded in 2001, has seen 'Cuse take home the award three times. Mikey Powell won it twice, while Mike Leveille is the Orange's most recent recipient in 2008.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
"This is going to be such an exciting lacrosse season, and we're happy to be recognizing these talented student-athletes," said Jeffrey Harvey, chair of the Tewaaraton Foundation. "We wish everyone the best of luck as the spring gets underway."
Dordevic has been named a Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse, USA Lacrosse Magazine and the USILA. He was a USILA Third Team All-America selection in 2021, started all-13 games and led all 'Cuse midfielders in points, scoring 23 goals and added eight assists. Voted a team captain for this season, Dordevic has now been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in each of the past three seasons.
Curry is one-of-two three-time team captains in program history this season. Another Preseason All-ACC selection along with Dordevic, Curry is also an Inside Lacrosse and USILA Preseason All-American. He enters the 2022 campaign having started 42-straight games and has been named an All-American by at least one publication in each of the past three seasons. He scored 17 goals and added 11 assists last year.
