Orange host first home game in three weeks on Saturday
'Cuse hosts Duke on Saturday in the Dome. Here's five things to know about the conference matchup.
1. It's Been Awhile
Saturday's game will be Duke's first visit to the Dome since the 2017 season after one of the more unique games in program history in 2019 at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. Due to a scheduling conflict with the first and second rounds of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament in the Dome, the Orange's home matchup set for Duke was moved the local high school.
It was the Orange's first outdoor home game in 30 years, ending in a 9-8 OT win in front of a capacity crowd.
The 2021 season then featured a reconfigured conference schedule that had Syracuse traveling to Koskinen Stadium, thus marking this year's matchup as the Blue Devils' first trip to the Dome in five years.
2. Dordevic on Fire
Attackman Tucker Dordevic is averaging 3.7 goals per game this season, and has scored 5+ goals in four of the Orange's seven outings this season.
With 26 goals through the first seven games, his current pace has his scoring trajectory chasing rare numbers. Only one member of the program has scored 50 goals in the last-30 years, Â which was Dylan Donahue in 2015. Tom Merechek was the last person before Donahue when he scored 54 goals in 1991.
3. Doubleheader Days
You get two games for the price of one on Saturday, as the Orange women host Temple at 4:30 p.m. Admission for Saturday's contests features one ticket that gets fans admission to both games. Tickets can be purchased at Cuse.com/Tickets.
4. ACC Bests
Syracuse and Duke have the league's two best records in conference play since the Orange joined the conference in the 2013-14 academic year.
Duke has the best conference record since the start of the 2014 season, checking in at 19-12 in that span. The Orange are one win behind them at 18-14 (SU has already played a conference game this season). Notre Dame (16-15) and North Carolina (16-16) have the next best records, while Virginia sits at 10-23, but has won the last two NCAA titles.
5. Military Appreciation Day
Saturday's lacrosse doubleheader is Military Appreciation Day, presented by SEFCU. As part of Syracuse's commitment to being the best place for veterans, all veterans and active military members are able to purchase up to four discounted tickets at the box office by showing their military ID.
