
Orange Host Pitt in Home Opener

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse (17-12 overall, 1-8 ACC) hosts its first home series of the season against Pittsburgh (11-14 overall, 1-7 ACC) at Skytop Softball Stadium this weekend.
The Orange will start the series with a double-header on Saturday, April 2. The first game will begin at 1:00 pm. and the second will start at 3:00 pm. The final game in the series will be on Sunday at 12:00 pm.

THE OPPONENT
University of Pittsburgh 40th time with 'Cuse leading the series 26-13. In the 2021 season, Syracuse swept a four-game series against the Panthers. In their most recent outing, Pitt lost two games against #5 Virginia Tech. Pittsburgh is Syracuse's most played opponenet throughout the program's history.

The first game is set for Friday, Apr. 8 at 3 p.m. with the second game scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 9 at 1 p.m. The Orange will finish out the weekend series with the final game on Sunday, Apr. 10 at 12 p.m.

ORANGE UPDATE
- Syracuse (17-12 overall, 1-8 ACC) lost all three games in a hard-fought series against Georgia Tech last weekend, holding all three scores within a one or two run deficit.
- The Orange shut out the Yellow Jackets for six innings in the final game of the series and pushed the game to extra innings with Georgia Tech claiming the 2-1 victory.
- Syracuse recorded three home runs this weekend from three different players, including Neli Casares-Maher, Laila Alves, and Angel Jasso.
- Freshman Laila Alves scored her first collegiate career home run in the second game of the series.
- Pitcher Ariana Adams shutout the Yellow Jackets with three strikeouts in her three innings played in the first game. Pitchers Lindsey Hendrix and Kaia Oliver also combined for 10 strikeouts in the 10.5 total innings pitched.
- Sophomore Angel Jasso tallied her 11th stolen base of the season.
- Fifth-year Neli Casares-Maher currently leads the Orange offense with the highest batting average of .376.
