
Orange Down the Pack

RALEIGH, N.C. - Junior Jude Padilla had four RBI to help power Syracuse past NC State, 9-3, in the second game of the series. Sophomore Lindsey Hendrix (3-1) got the win on the mound for the Orange (10-5 overall, 1-1 ACC).Â
Padilla hit a two-run home run and earned two RBI on a fielder's choice to lead the Orange offense. Senior Neli Casares-Maher went 2-for-4, with a home run and an RBI. Sophomore Angel Jasso had two hits in five trips to the plate, including a double, and had two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, including Jasso's two-RBI double, and added a fourth run in the top of the third on Casares-Maher home run. After the Wolf Pack (18-3 overall, 1-1 ACC) cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fourth, Syracuse responded with three runs in the top of the fifth to take a 7-2 lead. Taylor Posner singled up the middle to score Ryan Gallegos and then Padilla reached base on a fielder's choice that scored Posner and Casares-Maher.Â
In the top of the seventh, Padilla's two-run homer made the score 9-2. NC State managed one run in the bottom of the seventh to make the final score 9-3.
GAME NOTES
- Padilla drove in four runs for Syracuse.
- Every Syracuse starter reached base safely in the win.
- Five Orange had multiple hits in the game, including three for Carli Campbell and Angie Ramos.
- The Orange out-hit the Wolf Pack, 14-7.
- Casares-Maher improved her hitting streak to seven games.
