Dordevic Named Tewaaraton Nominee
4/21/2022 1:25:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
Syracuse attackman Tucker Dordevic has been one of the nation's most prolific scorers to date this season, and was recognized by making the cut to be a Tewaaraton Award Semifinalist on Thursday.
Dordevic, who is fourth nationally with 3.5 goals per game, has notched 42 goals and 11 assists on the season thus far. He's on pace to finish the 14 game regular season inside the top-10 for most goals in a season in Syracuse lacrosse history.
Established in 2001, the Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
A Syracuse player has won the award three times in the 20 years it has been presented. Mike Powell (2002 and 2004) and Mike Leveille (2008) are the past recipients. Syracuse's Jim Brown and current assistant coach Dave Pietramala have been presented with the Tewaaraton Legends Award as well, which is given annually to a player who competed before 2001, whose performance would have merited the Tewaaraton at the time.
From the current list of 25 semifinalists, five finalists will be selected in three weeks at the conclusion of the regular season. Kevin Rice (2015) is the Orange's most recent finalist.
