Three Syracuse captains and graduates were named USILA Scholar All-Americans on Tuesday, an award that honors senior student-athletes for both on-field and academic contributions.
Brendan Curry, Tucker Dordevic and Brett Kennedy were selected from the Orange this season – the third-straight season that 'Cuse was represented with three or more selections.
In order to be selected, a player must have been a senior in 2022, maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA and be either an All-American, have been nominated to the USILA Senior All-Star Game or have made other significant contributions to his team.
Curry, a three-time captain at SU, concluded his career as one of the most prolific scoring midfielders ever. His 94 goals out of the midfield were the seventh most by an SU middie ever. He earned a bachelor's degree in May of 2021 from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management and spent this year as a graduate student. This season, he finished with career bests of 34 goals, 19 assists and 53 points. He is a three-time All-American and was a member of the Tewaaraton Watch List this season. He was drafted in the second round of the PLL Draft earlier this summer, being selected by the Atlas Lacrosse Club.
Kennedy is one of the Orange's most versatile athletes, having played both LSM and close defense in his career. He earned a graduate degree in information management this year. He is also a graduate of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He finished his SU career with 59 career caused turnovers, which ranks fifth on the program's career list. A three-time All-ACC selection and three-time All-American, Kennedy was also a team captain this season. He was the No. 6 overall pick by the Chaos in the PLL Draft last month.
Both Curry and Kennedy were also named to the All-ACC Academic squad earlier this month.
Dordevic had the 13th-highest single-season goal scoring output ever at 'Cuse in his first season on attack. He finished the year with a team-high 47 goals and 12 assists for 59 points. He earned his bachelor's degree from Syracuse in May of 2021, before enrolling this past year in the MBA program through the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
