Syracuse (2-1-0) welcomes Siena (0-2-1) to the SU Soccer Stadium for a Sunday afternoon match at 1:00 p.m. It's the first game of a soccer doubleheader with the Orange hosting Penn State in men's soccer at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
The Syracuse-Siena Series:
The two programs have met once previously. The Orange defeated the Saints on August 20, 2019, 3-0.
Syracuse Status:
The Orange are coming off an impressive, 4-1 victory against Lafayette on Thursday night. Syracuse had four different goal scorers in its largest offensive output since a six-goal explosion in 2015.
Syracuse jumped to a 4-0 advantage on tallies from Kate Murphy, Erin Flurey, Pauline Machtens and Anna Rupert. Freshman Shea Vanderbosch made her first collegiate start in goal for the Orange.
Siena Status:
The Saints have sandwiched losses to Central Connecticut (2-0) and New Hampshire (2-1) around a 2-2 draw with Holy Cross. The loss to New Hampshire was on the road on Thursday.
Siena was 9-9-2 a season ago.
Battle of the Vanderbosch's:
Sisters Shea (Syracuse) and Kam (Siena) will suit up on opposite sides of the field. Shea, a freshman goalkeeper, and Kam, a first-year back, are twins who played at Lancaster High School. Both have seen significant field time in their rookie seasons at the college level.
