Syracuse (10-5, 3-1) hits the road to face No. 11 Virginia (10-3, 2-2) inside John Paul Jones Arena on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 5:00 p.m.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange head to Charlottesville, Va. as winners of seven of their last eight contests. Virginia has consistently appeared in the polls this season, reaching as high as second. The 'Hoos have won two of their last three games. On Tuesday night, UVA was upset by Pitt, 68-65,.

SYRACUSE-VIRGINIA SERIES
Saturday marks the 17th clash in the series. Virginia holds an 11-6 edge versus Syracuse in a pairing that began in 1983-84. The Cavaliers have captured the last three meetings. SU's most recent win against the Cavs was a 63-55, overtime decision on Jan. 11, 2020.

LAST TIME OUT
Syracuse emerged from Louisville with a 70-69 victory over the Cards on Jan. 3. Senior guard Joseph Girard III converted two free throws with 17 seconds left to put the Orange ahead by three. Nine seconds later, after Syracuse opted to foul, the Cardinals converted two from the charity stripe. On the next Syracuse possession, Louisville forced a turnover but senior center Jesse Edwards stole the ball back and the Orange held on.

Girard led all both teams with a 28-point effort. Edwards etched his seventh double-double of the season by recording 12 points and 11 boards. Freshman guard Judah Mintz's 16 points accounted for his sixth 16+ point game in a row.

ORANGE LEADERS
Girard (16.7 ppg) holds the offensive front for Syracuse and has recorded 15 or more points in all of the last eight contests. Mintz leads all ACC freshmen in scoring average (15.8 ppg.), steals per game (2.27), and assists per contest (4.2). Edwards team-best 10.9 boards per contest and 13.9 ppg. account for a double-double average.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Graduate guard Kihei Clark (11.9 ppg) is one of three 'Hoos averaging 11 points per matchup and is contributing a squad-best 5.9 assists per contest. Redshirt junior forward Kadin Shedrick is adding a team-best 1.7 blocks per game.

'CUSE FANS CAN VOTE FOR GIRARD
Senior Joseph Girard III is one of 20 players named to the 2023 Jerry West Award watch list, which is annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I college basketball. Orange fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for each of the three rounds. The list will be narrowed down to 10 in January, five in February, and the five finalists will be presented to Jerry West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected in March. MCNAMARA AND WARRICK JERSEY RETIREMENT
Twenty years after playing a major role in Syracuse's first NCAA Basketball Championship, Gerry McNamara '06 and Hakim Warrick '05 will have their Orange jerseys hoisted to the Dome rafters. The jersey retirements will take place on Sunday, March 4 when Syracuse hosts Wake Forest at 5:00 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome.

20TH ANNIVERSARY OF '03 CHAMPIONSHIP
Syracuse University Athletics will celebrate the 20^th Anniversary of the men's basketball program's 2003 NCAA Championship throughout the 2022-23 season, culminating with a reunion at the March 4 contest with Wake Forest. Members of the 2002-03 national title team have been invited to return to Syracuse for planned activities the weekend of March 3-5, 2023. The Orange are scheduled to host Wake Forest on Saturday, March 4, in the final regular-season contest of the campaign. Those from the 2002-03 squad who can return, will be recognized at the game.
