
Orange Host Monroe Madness

The Syracuse men's and women's basketball teams took their respective shows on the road Saturday night to participate in Monroe Madness at the Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. The outing gave the two squads the chance to interact with the many Orange fans in Monroe County and the surrounding area.
Monroe Madness was presented in partnership with Pegula Sports and Entertainment and with Wegmans as the primary sponsor.
The evening featured student-athlete competitions, fan participation and scrimmages for both squads.
The women's team played against a squad of male students who regularly serve as practice opponents. The women's team was edged, 34-32. Dyaisha Fair had 14 points on four 3-pointers,Â
On the men's side, the Blue team defeated the Orange squad, 37-22. The Blue squad was paced by Quadir Copeland, who had 11 points, and JJ Starling, who added 9. Naheem McLeod led the Orange squad with 8.
SHOOTING COMPETITION
Women's: Three-person squads need to make a layup, foul shot and 3-point shot. Once accomplished, the group that makes a half-court shot first, wins the competition.
Winning Blue Team: Alyssa Latham, Alaina Rice, Kyra Wood; Alyssa Latham made the hal-court shot
Orange Team: Cheyenne McEvans, Lexi McNabb, Marilena TrianTafylli
Mixed 3-point Challenge:Each participant gets five shots from three different racks.
Orange Team: Quadir Copeland (7), Kyle Cuffe Jr. (9), Alaina Rice (6), Sophie Burrows (9)=31

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The women's team goes against College of St. Rose in an exhibition contest on Tuesday, October 31, at 5 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome.
