Fonte and Kozyreva Flawless at ITA Northeast Regionals

BOSTON, Mass. – The Syracuse University women's tennis team had both Ines Fonte and Polina Kozyreva qualify for the ITA Northeast Super Regionals on Sunday afternoon. Both Fonte and Kozyreva went undefeated in the singles and doubles events at the ITA Northeast Regionals to qualify for Super Regionals.

Throughout the ITA Northeast Regionals, Fonte and Kozyreva each won all three of their matches in the singles event, as well as all three of their matchups as a pair in the doubles event. The stellar performance from the duo allowed them to qualify for Super Regionals hosted by Army from October 20-23. The pair finished tournament play with an 8-2 win over Ha/Brettkelly (Yale). In the singles event, Fonte won against Aggarwal (Yale) 7-6[4], 6-2. Kozyreva defeated Capuano (Dartmouth) 6-3, 6-2.

All Orange participants won at least two matches in the singles event at the tournament. On Sunday, Anastasia Sysoeva lost to Peus (Brown) in a match that went the distance, 6-3, 5-7, 10-5. Shiori Ito was defeated by Kim (Harvard) 7-5, 6-0. The Duo of Sysoeva/Kimoto lost in the round of 16 to Harvard's Karra/Yakoff, 8-3.

The Orange will have one more event before playing at the ITA Northeast Super Regionals. 'Cuse will be back on the court next for the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, New Jersey from October 13-15.
