
Edwards, Mikina Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Seniors Nate Edwards and Gabriel Mikina have earned spots on the 2023 Men's Soccer College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, which were announced on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced in early December.
Mikina started in all 21 matches for Syracuse, one of four players to achieve the mark. The defender scored five goals and recorded an assist, with three of his tallies settling as the game-winning goal. Mikina played the full time in nine matches and finished second on the team with 1,738 minutes on the pitch. Defensively, the Toronto, Ontario, native was part of the back line that registered seven clean sheets.
Edwards also started in all 21 contests for the Orange and finished the campaign with one goal and four assists. The four assists and six points are career highs. The midfielder tallied two assists in the team's 2-0 win over Yale and recorded at least one shot attempt in 12 contests. The Brampton, Ontario, native was also part of the team's seven clean sheets and appeared in 1,602 minutes of action in 2023.
