Syracuse (5-2) travels to Charlottesville, Va., to open ACC play against Virginia (6-1) on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 12:00 p.m.

SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse is coming off an 80-57 win against LSU in the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge on Nov. 28. Sophomore guard and player of the year candidate Judah Mintz had a career-high 33 points in the victory.
The Cavaliers are fresh off a 59-47 victory against No. 14 Texas A&M in the ACC/SEC Challenge. Virginia had all five starters finish in double-digits, led by sophomore guard Andrew Rohde with 13 points.

SYRACYSE-VIRGINIA SERIES
Saturday marks the 20th meeting between the ACC squads. UVA holds a 13-6 edge in the all-time series that extends back to 1983-84. The 'Hoos have captured the last four contests.

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore guard Judah Mintz notched a career-high 33 points in the home win against LSU. He became the first Syracuse player to score 33 points in regulation since Tyus Battle tallied 34 versus Wake Forest on Feb. 2, 2018. Sophomore forward Chris Bell added 20 points in the last outing. Bell tied his personal-best effort with six 3-pointers.Â

ORANGE LEADERS
Mintz leads Syracuse with 20.4 points per game, which ranks third in the ACC behind Clemson's PJ Hall (21.3) and Boston College's Quentin Post (21.3). Bell has been the Orange's second most productive scorer, averaging 14.6 points and just over three 3-pointers per contest. Junior center Naheem McLeod is producing 2.9 blocks per game, which is tied for fourth in all of Division I.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Virginia is led by preseason All-ACC senior guard Reece Beekman, who averages 11.9 points and 5.7 assists per contest. Beekman's backcourt partner, sophomore Ryan Dunn, has produced 10.6 points per game with 20 blocks and 20 steals on the season.

Mintz is one of 20 watch-list candidates for the 2024 Bob Cousy Award, which is annually presented to the top point guard in Division I men's basketball. Orange followers are encouraged to participate in three rounds of Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, on hoophallawards.com.
Mintz is also on the watch list for the Naismith Trophy and John R. Wooden Award. Each list in comprised of 50 student-athletes. The lists for each award will be narrowed throughout the year, and winners of the awards will be announced later in the season.
