
Batherson, D'Arcy and Hicks Earn CHA All-Conference Honors

Senior Mae Batherson is a 2023 All-College Hockey America First Team selection, and first-year skaters Maya D'Arcy and Rhéa Hicks are CHA All-Rookie Team honorees. It is the second All-CHA team honor for Batherson in her Orange career. She was a CHA All-Rookie selection in 2019-20.Â

A defenseman, Batherson tallied 21 points, including 16 assists, which is second on the team and 10th in the CHA, and recorded 36 blocked shots. Batherson ranks fifth in Syracuse history on the career points by a defenseman record list with 61. The New Minas, Nova Scotia native has 15 career goals and 46 career assists, which ranks fifth and sixth, respectively, on the Orange career record lists for defenseman. During the season, Batherson earned the CHA Defenseman of the Month in October for her efforts during the first five weeks of the season and was the league Defenseman of the Week three times, including in the first three games of the season at #6 Colgate and in the Merrimack series, at the Ice Breaker Tournament in Lake Placid, and in the series at Lindenwood.

Hicks closed the season as Syracuse's fifth leading scorer overall and first among first-year players with 19 points, including six goals and 13 assists. The Etobicoke, Ontario native played was a regular on Syracuse's top two lines and all special teams this season. A forward, Hicks scored a pair of goals at Lindenwood in January and had multiple-assist games against Lindenwood twice and Penn State. Hicks earned CHA Rookie of the Week three times, including for her efforts in the first three games of the season at #6 Colgate and in the Merrimack series, the series against #15 Princeton and the series at Lindenwood.

D'Arcy contributed seven points from her defensive position, including one goal and six assists, and had 31 blocks, which ranked third on the team. The Cambridge, Ontario native recorded a career-high three assists against Post in November. During the season she earned CHA Defenseman of the Week honors for her effort in the series against Post in November, recording three assists and eight shots, CHA Defenseman of the Month recognition for her play throughout the month of November. She was also CHA Rookie of the Week after her performance in the series against #11 Clarkson (one goal, one assist and four blocks).
