Seven home games and nine matches against 2022 NCAA Tournament teams highlight the Syracuse women's soccer schedule for the fall.
'CUSE HOME COOKING
The Orange have seven contests that will be played at the SU Soccer Stadium. In addition to encounters with non-conference foes Auburn (Aug. 24) and Binghamton (Aug. 27), Syracuse has home field ACC pairings with Florida State (Sept. 21), Virginia Tech (Sept. 24), Wake Forest (Oct. 5), Pittsburgh (Oct. 14), and Virginia (Oct. 26).Â
The pairing with Auburn is the first with the Tigers since 2019, when the Orange were defeated, 2-0. Syracuse and Binghamton are more familiar combatants, having squared off a year ago. The Orange won that road tilt, 2-1.
Syracuse earned a 2-2 draw at Virginia a year ago. The Orange will be looking to avenge 2022 defeats to the other four ACC teams traveling to Syracuse.
PLAYING THE BEST
Coach Nicky Thrasher Adams squad will compete against nine programs that earned NCAA postseason berths a year ago. Once ACC play starts with a game at Miami, Syracuse will face eight clubs coming off participating in the NCAA playoffs.
Harvard is the one non-conference opponent that played in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. The Crimson were 12-2-3 overall.
Florida State was 17-3-3 and reached the NCAA semifinals, while North Carolina ended up 20-5-1 after losing the NCAA championship match. Virginia Tech (10-7-2), Clemson (8-5-5), Wake Forest (9-7-3), Pittsburgh (14-5-3), NC State (7-7-6), and Virginia (16-4-3) also received postseason invites last fall.
FAMILIAR FOES
Pittsburgh represents the most familiar foe on the Orange slate. Syracuse owns a 12-7-5 advantage in the all-time series with the Panthers. Miami is next. The Orange and the Hurricane have played 14 times previously. This fall's match at Cornell (Sept. 3) will mark the 13th time Syracuse and the Big Red have met.
EXHIBITIONS
Syracuse will prepare for the regular-season with two exhibition contests at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange are scheduled to host St. Bonaventure on August 10 and Albany on August 13.
All of Syracuse's home games are free to attend.
