BALTIMORE – The future continues to get brighter for Syracuse University men's lacrosse as two incoming standouts joined forces at the 18th Annual Senior All-America Lacrosse Game on Saturday.
Trey Deere and Jake Spallina, both joining the Orange this fall under third-year head coach Gary Gait. The pair played together at the Game, hosted by Corrigan Sports Enterprises and Inside Lacrosse, for the Boys' North team. Fellow incomer Donny Scott was a member of the Boys' South roster, but did not play due to injury.
Deere, who has been part of a dominating summer for the Orangeville Northmen Junior A team in the OJLL, scored two goals with one assist at Saturday's event. Hailing from Kahnawake, Quebec, Canada, Deere played in the All-America event with a wooden, traditional lacrosse stick, honoring the late Alf Jacques.
Jake Spallina, who will join older brother Joey Spallina and twin brother Brett Spallina in Central New York, alternated faceoffs for the North team with Cal Girard and Andrew Greenspan. Jake Spallina added runs as a true midfielder as well, showing off versatility before beginning his collegiate career.
The North pulled away late for a 22-16 win over the South at Johns Hopkins' historic Homewood Field. The game is available to watch on ESPN platforms.
