'Cuse Athletics to Take the Mound at Syracuse Mets Game

Three Syracuse University head coaches will take the mound at the Syracuse Mets baseball game on Thursday, August 17. Ice hockey coach Britni Smith, field hockey coach Lynn Farquhar and volleyball coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam will throw out ceremonial first pitches to kick of Women in Sports Night at NBT Bank Stadium. The Mets will host Columbus at 6:35 pm. A free fireworks show will follow the game.

The three Orange head coaches will host a selfie station on the left field concourse until 7 pm. All fans are invited to have their picture taken with the coaches following the opening pitches. Â

Otto and the Syracuse University cheer and dance teams will be at the Stadium throughout the game.

The 2023 Syracuse field hockey team begins the season on August 26th against Sacred Heart and will host Monmouth on September 1 at Coyne Stadium in the home opener. Admission to all Orange field hockey games is free.

The Orange volleyball team begins the 2023 campaign on August 25th against Navy in the Albany Tournament and will play its first home match on September 15th against Iowa in the Women's Building. Admission to all Syracuse volleyball matches is free.

The ice hockey squad will open the 2023-24 season at Post on September 29th and will host the home opener against Merrimack on October 6th at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Admission to all Orange ice hockey games is free.
