
Volleyball Closes Out UAlbany Invitational

ALBANY, N.Y. – Syracuse wrapped up weekend play with a setback to the UCF Knights, losing in three sets at the Albany Capital Center for the UAlbany Invitational, hosted by the University at Albany.
UCF proved to be a tough matchup for 'Cuse (0-3). The Knights had a strong showing in the first two sets, holding the Orange to single digit scores in both. 'Cuse fought hard in the third set, creating a 5-2 scoring run that brought the set total to 17-9 in favor of the Knights. It was a collaborative offensive effort from the Orange, having five players with multiple kills in the match. Zharia Harris-Waddy and Laila Smith led the offense in the match, accumulating five and four kills respectively.
Of Note:
· Freshman Zharia Harris-Waddy was selected to the All-Tournament Team after totaling 16 kills over the weekend, with a weekend-high of 44.4% hitting against UCF.
· Sophomore Ariana Joubert led the Orange in offense over the weekend with a total of 17 kills in three matches.
· Freshman Veronica Sierzant strongly supported the offense over the span of the tournament, accumulating 54 assists in all matches.

Syracuse will return to the court to play in the Kathy DeBoer Invitational presented by Auto-Owners Insurance on Saturday, September 2, 2023 against Delaware State at noon from the Breslin Center.
