
Orange Run Into Hot Harvard Squad

Syracuse (2-5-0) fought back from a three-goal, halftime deficit, but host Harvard (3-1-1) held off the Orange and won, 5-2, in Cambridge, Mass., on Thursday night.
HARVARDÂ GETS OFFENSIVE
Senior Ava Lung struck first for the Crimson. Senior Gabby Delpico set up senior Smith Hunter, who crossed the ball to Lung. The senior redirected the pass and headed it into the cage, giving Harvard a 1-0 lead.
Bebar, a junior, joined in with two tallies within 11 minutes of each other. Her first came at 15:01 into the opening half. Delpico began the scoring play, connecting with freshman Ólöf Kristinsdóttir, who set up Bebar. She added to her total at 25:26, finishing a play that earned assists for junior Jade Rose and Lung.
Syracuse sophomore goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch helped keep Harvard from increasing its advantage. She made three first-half saves.Harvard went into the intermission with a 3-0 lead.
THE CRIMSON ADD ON:
Freshman Susie Long pushed the Harvard margin to 4-0 when she scored at 56:31. Kristinsdóttir earned her second assist of the match.
SYRACUSE PUSHES BACK:
The Orange lit the scoreboard at 66:14. Junior Kendyl Lauher made a great individual effort to secure the ball, attack the goal and feed a cross to sophomore Anna Ruppert, who connected.Â
Syracuse continued its rally when redshirt sophomore Erin Flurey secured a Harvard turnover, weaved through the defense, and placed a drive in the upper corner of the goal for her second of the season. The goal, at 72:02, pulled the Orange closer at 4-2.
HOSTS DASH ORANGE HOPES
Just over five minutes after Flurey's goal, Harvard tacked on a tally. Lung earned her second assist by finding sophomore Audrey Francois, who chipped the ball just out of the reach of Vanderbosch.
NOTABLE NOTES:
Syracuse plays the fourth of five straight matches away from home when it plays at Fairfield on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
