Omeze Named Midseason Top 100 Freshmen by TopDrawerSoccer

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse men's soccer freshman Chimere Omeze has been named to TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Top 100 Freshmen list at No. 27, as announced by the organization on Monday, Oct. 21. A native of Brampton, Ontario, Omeze has had a strong opening campaign with the Orange, starting in each of the 13 matches he has competed in, tallying three goals.
Omeze did not waste any time making his mark on the 2024 campaign, as the freshman recorded his first collegiate appearance, start, and goal all in SU's season-opening victory over Colgate (Aug. 22). His 88th-minute score lifted 'Cuse over the Raiders, 1-0.
Omeze then recorded the second goal of his college career one game later with a header in the Orange's 3-0 victory over Niagara (Aug. 25).
Most recently, Omeze scored his second game winner of the campaign in the Orange's 2-1 win at Providence (Oct. 8), netting a goal in the 71st minute.
Through his 13 games played, Omeze has clocked 1,052 minutes on the pitch, the fourth-most on the team. His 13 starts also leads all freshmen on SU's roster.
Syracuse has two contests remaining on its slate, starting with a nationally broadcast match at Clemson on Friday, Oct. 25. The game, which will be live on ACC Network, kicks off at 8 p.m.
