Eddie Lampkin Jr. provided a team-high 18 points, but the Syracuse men's basketball team (5-5) dropped a tight 75-71 contest to Georgetown (8-2) in the 100th all-time meeting between teams on Saturday at the JMA Wireless Dome.
How The Game Was Decided
Jaquan Carlos drained a 3-pointer with 4:12 left that put the Orange ahead, 69-67, but the Hoyas answered by scoring eight of the last 10 points of the contest.Â
Malik Mack hit a free throw and Jayden Epps, who finished with a game-high 27 points, scored in the paint to move Georgetown in front, 70-69. Both teams squandered scoring opportunities until Micah Peavy converted two free throws to give the Hoyas a 72-69 advantage at the 1:54 mark. The Orange misfired on back-to-back 3-pointers and Epps scored with 22 seconds remaining to move the Georgetown margin to five, 74-69.Â
Carlos connected on two free throws with 16 ticks left to pull the Orange back within three, 74-71, before Georgetown secured the triumph.

Lampkin recorded a team-high 18 points for Syracuse on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor, marking the second time this season he has led the Orange in points in a contest.
The graduate center provided a spark for the Orange offense at the start of the second half, recording eight of Syracuse's first 13 points of the period..
Carlos Climbing in Points
Carlos finished with a season-best 15 points, one game after his 12-point, 12-assist double-double in the contest against UAlbany. He converted all eight of his free throw attempts and had five assists.
Carlos' point total has gone up over each each of the last four games. He's averaging 10.5 points per game in the span. Â
