
Men’s Lacrosse Remains Top 10 for Week Three

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After an overtime setback in a top-10 clash on Saturday, the Syracuse University men's lacrosse team remained inside the top 10 in the polls this week.
Syracuse (3-1) dropped a 13-12 decision in an instant classic against No. 4 Maryland on Saturday. The Orange only slid one spot in each of the major polls this week, dropping to eight in the USILA Coaches Poll with 324 points and sixth in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Syracuse ranked ninth in the USA Lacrosse Division I Top 20.
The top four spots in the USILA Coaches Poll remained unchanged this week, led by Notre Dame's 492 points and 17 first-place votes, followed by Duke at 476 points and six top selections. Virginia slotted third with 456 points and the two remaining first-place votes with Maryland still in fourth with 424 points. Army West Point, Syracuse's February 28 opponent, moved up to number five with 379 points.
Likewise, the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll's top four was unmoved this week with Notre Dame (507, 16), Duke (496, 8), Virginia (476, 2) and Maryland (443) staying status quo. Denver leapfrogged the Orange into fifth this week with 374 points. Syracuse garnered 13 more points this week with 368, despite falling one spot.
Ten 2024 opponents were ranked in the USILA Top 20 this week: No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Maryland, No. 5 Army West Point, No. 6 Cornell, No. 9 Johns Hopkins, No. 14 Delaware, and No. 15 North Carolina. Additionally, Colgate and High Point both received votes this week.
No. 8/No. 6 Syracuse hosts Utah for a Wednesday matinee at the JMA Wireless Dome. Opening faceoff is set for noon on ACC Network Extra. Tickets for the first-ever meeting between these teams are available at Cuse.com/Tickets.
