
Mackinnon and Roark Score on Day 1 of ACCs

The Syracuse men's and women's track and field teams picked up points in the 5,000-meter run on night one of the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Perry Mackinnon led the way with a sixth-place finish in the men's race, earning him Second Team All-ACC accolades, and Savannah Roark scored for the women with a seventh-place finish.
Mackinnon (13:53.02) scored two points for his finish. Notre Dame's Carter Solomon (13:50.55) claimed the gold. Alex Comerford (14:02.92) was 12th, one spot ahead of Paul O'Donnell (14:03.72). Assaf Harari (14:12.00) finished 21st, followed by Sam Lawler (14:14.17) in 25th, Connor Ackley (14:19.39) in 27th and Ethan Wechsler (14:20.38) in 29th. Wechsler's time was a season best.
Roark crossed the line in 16:14.95. Erin Strzelecki of Notre Dame was the event winner in 15:58.04. Ellie Lawler (16:23.60) and Rylie Lusk (16:27.74) were 10th and 11th, respectively. Sophia Jacobs-Townsley was 25th in 16:55.06, and Olivia Joly turned in a season-best time of 17:30.82 to take 30th.
In prelims action, Trei Thorogood advanced to Saturday's final in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.13 seconds, which won his heat. He had the fourth-fastest prelim time in the league. James Nmah (22.03 seconds) took 20th.
Kahniya James was 18th in the women's race in a time of 24.55 seconds.
Action continues tomorrow beginning with the men's mile at 3:15 p.m.
