
Brown, Mintz Earn All-ACC Honors

Sophomores Judah Mintz, a guard, and center Maliq Brown have achieved All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Mintz was selected to the All-ACC Second Team, while Brown was named to the All-ACC Defensive Team.

Mintz (18.7 ppg.) scored the fourth most points per game in the ACC regular season. His 138 assists ranked second-best in the conference, and his 4.5 assists per game was third. He swiped 2.10 steals per game this season, which was the third best in the ACC. Mintz ranks first in the conference and among the top 10 of Division I in free throws made (eighth, 199) and attempted (sixth, 260). At the conclusion of the regular season, he is fourth in Syracuse history for free throws made and attempted in a season.

Mintz is joined on the 2023-24 All-ACC Second Team by Armando Bacot (North Carolina), Reece Beekman (Virginia), Norchad Omier (Miami) and Quinten Post (Boston College). In the 2022-23 season, Mintz received honors on the All-Rookie Team and was an Honorable Mention for the All-ACC Team selections.

Brown became the first center in ACC history to finish the season atop the conference in steals per game (2.23). Prior to the ACC Tournament, he has 69 steals, which is the fifth most by a sophomore at Syracuse in program history. He led the Orange to a steal-rate of 9.2 per affair, which ranks second in the ACC and 13th in Division I. Brown ended the regular season averaging 7.9 rebounds per game in ACC contests. He closed out the final two games of the regular season with double-doubles, logging 10 points and 10 rebounds at Louisville, and 12 points and 11 boards against Clemson.

Brown is the fourth Syracuse performer to be named to the All-ACC Defensive Team. The other three were Jesse Edwards (2022-23), Michael Gbinije (2015-16) and Rakeem Christmas (2014-15). He is joined on the 2023-24 All-ACC Defensive Team by Reece Beekman (Virginia), Ryan Dunn (Virginia), Armando Bacot (North Carolina) and Quinten Post (Boston College).

Syracuse has earned the No. 7 seed in the 2024 ACC Tournament, securing a first round bye. The Orange will square off against the winner of the 10-seed NC State and 15-seed Louisville on Tuesday. The Syracuse contest is slated for Wednesday, March 13, and tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
