No. 5 Syracuse Hosts No. 3 Duke Wednesday Night
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Days after surpassing the 800 career save milestone, Syracuse University fifth-year netminder Will Mark was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) made its announcement Tuesday afternoon.
Mark, who transferred to Syracuse from LIU prior to the 2023 campaign, made 17 saves last week against No. 20 Delaware, eclipsing the 800 career save mark. The Danville, California product by way of Proctor Academy, is the 15th Division I player in NCAA history to make at least 800 career saves.
Turning aside 73.9 percent of Delaware's 23 shots on goal, Mark posted a season-best 17 saves in a neutral-site showdown for the then-No. 6 Orange. Mark has made double-digit saves in seven of the nine contests this year, including the last five games. The Orange have gone 4-1 in that span.
Notre Dame's Jake Taylor was selected as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week alongside Mark, who earned his first ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors of year and his second career weekly ACC plaudits.
Mark and the No. 5 Orange host a top-5 showdown Wednesday night at the JMA Wireless Dome as Syracuse host No. 3 Duke to begin conference play. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra. Tickets for the league opener can be found at Cuse.com/Tickets.
