INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Syracuse University women's tennis doubles pair of Miyuka Kimoto and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya have earned a draw in the NCAA Division I Championships as part of the doubles competition. The nation's No. 35 ranked doubles pairing will compete in the tournament from May 20-25 in Stillwater, Oklahoma at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Â
Kanapatskaya and Kimoto collectively won 39 total matches this spring season. In doubles competitions, the two combined for 20 total victories throughout the season, seven of which came in ACC contests. Paired together, Kanapatskaya and Kimoto earned the best record in doubles action on the squad, going 5-3.
Â
The marquee triumph of the season for the duo came against Virginia's No. 14 ranked Melodie Collard and Elaine Chervinsky. The Orange duo handled the match with a 6-2 win. Kanapatskaya and Kimoto grabbed two more victories against ranked opponents this season. The Syracuse doubles pair was ahead of the No. 10 ranked duo of Amelia Rajecki and Maddy Zampardo earlier this season, but the match was abandoned while 'Cuse was in front, 5-2.
Â
The pair's selection into the event marks the fourth time under head coach Younes Limam that a Syracuse doubles duo was selected to the NCAA doubles competition. The last occasion was Kimoto and Polina Kozyreva in 2022. The other Orange pairs in the Limam era that previously made the tournament were Gabriela Knutson and Valeria Salazar (2016) and Knutson and Miranda Ramirez (2018).
Â
The first round of the NCAA tournament doubles event will begin on Tuesday, May 21. Links for the live stream of the event will be posted at a later date on the tennis schedule page on cuse.com. Tickets for the doubles championships can be found at https://okstate.evenue.net/events/NCAATENNIS.
