Kimoto Advances In NCAA Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. – Miyuka Kimoto is moving on to the round of 32 of the NCAA Individual Championships! Kimoto took down Savannah Broadus of Pepperdine in the round of 64 on Monday morning at Greenwood Tennis Center.

After trailing four games to none in the first set, Kimoto turned it on to comeback and take set one, 7-5. The Oita, Japan native grabbed an early lead in the second set and secured a 6-4 victory in the frame to seal the match win. She is now set to face Ohio State's Luciana Perry in the round of 32 on Tuesday, May 21 at 1 p.m. ET.

Kimoto is the first Orange player to advance to the second round of the NCAA Individual Championships in the singles bracket since Gabriella Knutson in the spring 2018. She and Kanapatskaya are set as a doubles pair to compete in the first round of the doubles bracket on Tuesday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
