CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior Lindsey Hendrix and sophomore Madelyn Lopez were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Third Team in voting by the conference coaches announced on Wednesday prior to the start of the league's postseason tournament.
Hendrix and Lopez earned All-ACC honors for the first time in their respective careers. Syracuse has had a player earn a postseason honor in seven seasons since joining the conference and have had multiple honorees in six of those campaigns.
Hendrix concluded the regular season in stellar fashion, becoming the first pitcher in program history to win four games against top-15 opponents. The lefty earned back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week honors, the first occurrence by a Syracuse player since 2011. Across the four starts, Hendrix had a 0.81 ERA in 26 innings, holding opponents to a .222 average. During ACC play, Hendrix made 11 appearances and nine starts, posting a 6-3 record to go along with a 2.66 ERA in 52.2 innings. The Orlando, Fla., native has pitched in 22 games, making 19 starts in the circle, and holding a career-best 13-3 record with a 2.25 ERA across 102.2 frames. Hendrix is the fourth Syracuse pitcher to earn All-ACC honors, joining Sydney O'Hara (2014), Alexa Romero (2017, 2018 and 2021) and Madison Knight (2023).
Lopez batted .367 across 23 conference games, posting the 17th-best batting average among qualifiers in league action. The sophomore went 22-for-60 with 11 runs scored, 10 RBI, 14 walks and a 1.020 OPS. The reigning ACC Player of the Week, Lopez recorded seven hits in 14 at bats, scoring five times while picking up multi-hit contests in three of the four games during the week. Lopez became the first Syracuse player to earn the distinction since Faith Cain in 2017. Overall, Lopez is second on the team with a .314 average and has crossed the plate 21 times while driving in 23 runs. The outfielder has drawn a team-best 20 free passes, good for a .412 on-base percentage, all while striking out just 10 times in 43 contests. Lopez is the third Orange outfielder to be named to an All-ACC squad and first since 2015. Shirley Daniels (2014) and Maddi Doane (2015) previously earned the award.
Eighth-seeded Syracuse begins its ACC title run Wednesday at 1 p.m. against ninth-seeded Boston College at the Duke Softball Stadium in Durham, N.C. All games throughout the tournament air live on ACC Network.
