
Jake Spallina Tapped for U20 Training Team

SPARKS, Maryland – After a weekend of training in northern Baltimore County, Syracuse University rising sophomore men's lacrosse midfielder Jake Spallina was named to the USA Lacrosse Under 20 National Team Training Squad.
USA Lacrosse announced its 42-man training team, guided by head coach Shawn Nadelen, on June 30. The 42 players are vying for a spot on the US U20 National Team as the American side gears up for the 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship, hosted in Seogwipo, South Korea on Jeju Island from July 18-27, 2025.
Spallina appeared in all 18 games as a true freshman, primarily as a short stick defensive midfielder. He collected three ground balls and added one caused turnover during his rookie season as the Orange reached the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals for the first time since 2017. Spallina notched his first career goal against Utah (Feb. 21) at home at the JMA Wireless Dome.
This summer, Spallina joins his older brother, Joey Spallina, in the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) with the Orangeville Northmen. Jake has appeared in 11 games with the Junior A team, serving two penalty minutes as the Northmen currently lead the OJLL with 28 points behind a 14-2-0 overall record.
