Men’s Soccer Tops Marist in Final Home Exhibition

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Michael Acquah recorded a brace and Sachiel Ming added three assists as Syracuse men's soccer topped Marist, 5-2, on Tuesday night at SU Soccer Stadium in the team's final home exhibition contest of the campaign.

The Orange earned a 1-0 edge early in the contest on an own goal, before the Red Foxes equalized the match with a header that found the back of the net.

'Cuse answered in a big way with a four-goal run, started by Acquah's first tally. Ezra Widman and Daniel Burko then added to the Orange's advantage, before Acquah tacked on his second score of the night.

Marist countered with a goal late in the contest, but it was too late, as Syracuse went on to earn a 5-2 victory.

The Orange will next travel to Piscataway, N.J. to face Rutgers in their final tune-up of the preseason on Saturday, August 17. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.

Syracuse will then open its 2024 regular season at Colgate on Thursday, August 22, at 7 p.m.
