SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse men's soccer forward Nicholas Kaloukian has been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Preseason Watch List, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
In his one season with the Orange, Kaloukian, a Wayne, N.J., native compiled an impressive season to help guide 'Cuse to its second-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The then-sophomore was one of four players to start in all the team's 21 contests a season ago, tying for a team-high six goals. He also added three assists.
Kaloukian also had a strong showing throughout the 2023 postseason, tying for a team-best six playoff points, including a brace in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against the Boston Terriers on Nov. 16.
A transfer from Michigan, Kaloukian made 16 appearances and 12 starts during his freshman campaign, earning himself a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. He also led the Wolverines with his team-high four goals.
The conference also announced the Preseason Coaches' Poll on Wednesday, with Syracuse being voted to finish No. 10. Reigning National Champion Clemson earned the No. 1 spot, receiving 12 first-place votes.
The distinction comes a week after the Orange were ranked No. 25 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll, where they were selected as one of 10 ACC schools tabbed one of the top teams in the country.
'Cuse will kickoff its conference schedule on Sept. 6 at Boston College, followed by its first home conference match against Virginia Tech on Sept. 13. The Orange will also take on ACC opponents Louisville (Sept. 20), Wake Forest (Sept. 27), Notre Dame (Oct. 5), Virginia (Oct. 19), Clemson (Oct. 25), and Pittsburgh (Nov. 1).
The Orange travel to Piscataway, N.J. to face Rutgers in their final tune-up of the preseason on Saturday, August 17. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. Syracuse will then open its 2024 regular season at Colgate on Thursday, August 22, at 7 p.m.
