Crittenden to Race in Repechage Round of 110H
8/4/2024 6:55:00 AM | Track and Field
Freddie Crittenden III is on to the repechage round of the 110-meter hurdles at the Paris Olympics.
In a strategic move, Crittenden jogged the first-round race, telling the broadcast crew after the event that he had felt a tweak in training and wanted to give his body more time to recover. Crittenden took a slower approach – racing to a time of 18.27 seconds, almost more than five seconds slower than his season-best – in hopes of qualifying for the semifinals in Tuesday's repechage.
He'll race again at 4:50 a.m. eastern time on Aug. 6. He'll run in the first heat, where he'll need to finish in the top two of the seven-man field to advance to the next round. Semifinals will be the following day at 1:05 p.m., followed by the final on Aug. 8 at 3:45 p.m. eastern time.
