SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse men’s soccer team welcomed back the program’s alumni and families for Alumni Weekend on Sept. 13-14. The weekend, which was led by the SU soccer’s SUccesS Alumni Network, was aimed to engage members of the Syracuse soccer family, including current and former players, with one another to help cultivate individual success on the pitch and in life.
"It's really special to come back to campus where we studied and fought hard on the pitch" said SUccesS Co-Lead Neeraj Chopra ('00). "It's great to see alumni coming back together to support the team and having a great time together."

Thank you to all our alumni and families who came out for such an awesome weekend. The Orange family runs deep ????#DareToDream pic.twitter.com/TKXNrgilRG
The two-day event began on Friday, Sept. 13, with a family and alumni pre-match tailgate at SU Soccer Stadium. The pre-match festivities led up to the Orange’s nationally televised contest against Virginia Tech.
Following the game, alumni and families were invited to Drumlins Country Club for a post-game reception with Syracuse’s coaching staff, head coach Ian McIntyre, associate head coach Jukka Masalin, and assistant coaches Carter Lincoln and Santiago Restrepo.
Saturday’s (Sept. 14) portion of the weekend began with an alumni kickaround, as former players had the opportunity to step onto the SU Soccer Stadium pitch.

Following the kickaround, alumni, coaches, and players were invited back to Drumlins for the SUccesS luncheon, an event to help foster success of both former and current players on the pitch and in life. The event incorporated the Syracuse Soccer CORE-4-CULTURE of emotionally resilient, passionate competitors, compassionate communicators, and trusted teammates to help deepen the program’s fellowship and brotherhood through different bonding activities.
"The CORE-4-CULTURE elements blend so naturally with what our passions were in launching the SUccesS platform," Chopra added. "They are really strong cultural facets that help a human being be a good citizen in life, let alone a phenomenal teammate on the soccer field, as well as a good partner and professional."
