THE GAME
- Syracuse men's lacrosse is back as the Orange open the 2025 season with a home game against Jacksonville University, the first-ever meeting between the programs.

- Syracuse also returns 18 point getters from a year ago, including three of the top four: Joey Spallina (37g, 51a), Owen Hiltz (38g, 27a), and Finn Thomson (24g, 14a). Syracuse returns its entire starting defense (Billy Dwan III, Riley Figueiras, Caden Kol) as well as faceoff athlete John Mullen.
- Saturday's game is slated for a noon start on ACC Network Extra with Andrew Selover and All-American Stephen Rehfuss '21 in the booth and Sean Dorcellus '21 working the sidelineÂ
- Tim Leonard '20 (play-by-play) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) take to the airwaves on Syracuse Sports Network and TK99/105 locally, Cuse.com, The Varsity App, and TuneIn App, as well as Syracuse University student-radio station WAER.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE DOME...
- As the saying goes, there's no place like home - doubly true when it's the JMA Wireless Dome.
- Syracuse opened the 2024 season with seven-straight games at home - the most consecutive home games to open a season since the Orange moved into the Dome in 1981.
- This year is much the same, minus a road trip to College Park in mid-February and Utah to open March. The Orange will play seven of their nine home games in the first two months of the season.
- The previous highwater mark for consecutive games at the Dome to open a campaign was six to lead off the 2019 season. The Orange went 4-2 in that span, picking off No. 14 UAlbany, No. 15 Army West Point, No. 17 Johns Hopkins, and No. 16 Rutgers along the way.Â
- Syracuse is 29-3 in season openers at home since the Dome opened.
- 'Cuse is 270-54 all-time in the JMA Dome since the 1981 season after taking down No. 12 Towson 20-15 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- The Orange went 5-2 in the seven-game homestand that opened the 2024 season.
- Syracuse is 16-11 in the Dome under head coach Gary Gait, including an 8-2 mark last year. The Orange have had a winning record at home over the last two years, going 5-4 in 2023 for a 13-6 mark across the past pair of campaigns.
- Postseason play returned to the Dome for the first time since 2018. After knocking off Towson, Syracuse collected its first NCAA Tournament win at the Dome since the opening round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament over Yale.
- The eight home wins last season are the most since the Orange went 8-1 at the Dome during the 2016 campaign. The eight home wins are the second-most for the Orange since joining the ACC for the 2014 campaign, one shy of the 9-0 mark in 2015.
THE JACKSONVILLE SERIES
- Syracuse and Jacksonville will meet for the first time in program history on Saturday at noon as the Dolphins make the trip to the Salt City.
- The Orange will face two Atlantic Sun (ASUN) opponents this season, kick off the month of February with Jacksonville and leading off in March at Utah (March 1).Â
- Conversely, Jacksonville will play two other ACC teams this year: Duke (Feb. 8) at home and at UNC (March 16)
- Despite the 0-0 all-time record between these programs, there is some familiarity: Jacksonville head coach John Galloway '11 minded the Syracuse net for four seasons, leading Syracuse to its last two NCAA Championships in 2008 and 2009. Galloway is a Syracuse native who played scholastically at nearby West Genesse High School.
- Only one current player on the Syracuse roster has experience with the Dolphins; Ryder Ochoa played against Jacksonville last spring as a member of the St. John's program. He caused one turnover in that game in Florida.Â
A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD...
- Improve Syracuse to 4-0 in season and home openers under fourth-year head coach Gary Gait
- Bump Syracuse to 1-0 all-time against Jacksonville.
- See the Orange win their 271st game in the JMA Wireless Dome.
- Be the 949th win in program history, second-most among Division I programs.
