O'Grady is one of the most decorated players in SU women's soccer history. She holds multiple program records including career goals (49), points (117), game-winning goals (14) and games played (82). She also led the team in goal scoring and points across three seasons -- 1997, 1998 and 2000. She was named the Syracuse Rookie of the Year in 1997 and Player of the Year in 2000.Â
"Erin O'Grady was phenomenal at every level of soccer," said Bill Duffy, president of the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame. "She is a youth national champion, collegiate scoring record holder and pro league winner. She has been consistently excellent throughout her entire soccer career."
O'Grady found early success as a youth player with World Class Soccer of Windsor, Conn., winning the USYSA Under 20 National Championship (2000), three Northeast Regional titles and nine Connecticut Open Cup competitions. At Glastonbury HS (1995-1997), she earned All American (Parade and NSCAA, 1997), All New England (1996 and 1997) and All State and All CCC honors (1995-1997). She is a member of the Connecticut Girls Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame.Â
As a pro, O'Grady played at the highest levels available at the time. She was a W-League Champion (2001 & 2002, Boston Renegades), WUSA regular season champion (Boston Breakers, 2003), WPSL finalist (New England Mutiny, 2004 and 2007) and a team captain (2007 and 2008). She was named the W-League tournament MVP with two goals in the final (2002), had her #9 jersey retired with the New England Mutiny and is a WPSL Hall of Fame Inductee.Â
The induction event will take place at The DoubleTree Hotel, 42 Century Drive, Bristol, CT and is open to the public. Information regarding tickets and event details can be found at www.ctsoccerhalloffame.org.Â
