
Men’s Lacrosse Remains Second in Both Polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After the first full week of Division I games across the country, the Syracuse University men's lacrosse team remained in the second position in both major polls this week.
Syracuse (3-0) picked up 594 points and a first-place vote in the USILA Coaches Poll, trailing only Notre Dame and its 639 points and the remaining 31 first-place selections. Cornell was third with 534 points, with Virginia (519) and Johns Hopkins (494) rounding out the top five.
In the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll, The Orange were slotted second with 423 points, despite not receiving any first-place votes. Notre Dame topped the media poll with 458 points and 21 first-place votes. Cornell was third with 385 points and one first-place vote with Johns Hopkins in fourth with 374 points and one top selection. Princeton rounded out the top five teams this week with 355 points.
A gauntlet on deck for the season, Syracuse will play face nine teams ranked in the USILA Coaches Poll this week, No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 3 Cornell, No. 4 Virginia, No. 5 Johns Hopkins, No. 6 Maryland, No. 7 Duke, No. 11 North Carolina, No. 18 Towson, No. 19 Harvard, with the addition of Utah, which received votes this week.
The No. 2 Orange continue to roll through five opponents mentioned in the poll this week. After dispatching a Towson team ranked 17th at the start of the game on Monday, Syracuse takes on sixth-ranked Maryland this Saturday in College Park. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at SECU Stadium for the first top-10 battle for Syracuse this season. BTN+ will have the broadcast, as will Syracuse Sports Network and TK99/105 locally.
