Syracuse Tallies First Road Win Against BU

WINCHESTER, MASS. – The Syracuse University women's tennis team (5-0) earned its first road win of the season against Boston University (2-4) on Saturday, 5-2.

The Orange won the doubles point and added four more victories in singles in the triumph.

THE RUNDOWN

Syracuse won the doubles point for the fourth time this season. Anastasia Sysoeva and Miyuka Kimoto won 6-3 at the No. 2 position, followed by Shiori Ito and Nelly Knezkova clinching the doubles point with a 6-3 result at the No. 1 spot. Knezkova and Ito are a perfect 3-0 as a duo this season.
Knezkova returned to the No. 1 singles spot for the third consecutive match where she defeated Uma Bakaityte in a competitive battle, 4-6, 7-5, 10-6. Knezkova is now 5-0 in singles this season. This was Syracuse's first match tiebreak victory in singles this spring and the first time an Orange player has come from a set down to win a match on the campaign.
Serafima Shastova defeated Blanka DeMicheli 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 singles position. Shastova is now 3-1 in singles this spring with wins at three different positions.
Earning her first victory in singles this season, Sysoeva defeated Gabriella Mikaul 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot. Her victory clinched the match for the Orange.
ACC Freshman of the Week Monika Wojcik picked up her fourth singles victory of the season, defeating Sydney Sharma 6-2, 6-3. Three of her four wins have come in straight sets.
'Cuse is 5-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2022-23 campaign.

Syracuse plays its first ACC opponent tomorrow against Boston College at Chestnut Hill, Mass. The match will begin at 10 a.m.
