
Men’s Lacrosse Moves Up in Weekly Polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Picking up a pair of wins last week, including a top-20 victory, Syracuse University men's lacrosse moved up two spots in both major polls this week as the Orange prepare for ACC play.
Syracuse (7-2, 0-0 ACC) moved up to the number eight spot in this week's USILA Division I Coaches Poll, picking up 377 points. Cornell jumped to the top spot with 581 points and 20 first place votes. Maryland slipped to second with 528 points and three top selections. Ohio State was third with 526 points and three first-place nods. Princeton was fourth with 507 points while North Carolina wrapped up the top five with 505 points and the final four top votes.
The Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll had the same top five. Cornell had 466 points with 17 first-place votes, followed by Maryland's 426 points and one top selection. Ohio State was third with 423 points and three top votes. Princeton had one first-place vote and 415 points for fourth, leading North Carolina's 411 points with a pair for first-place votes.
Nine opponents this season were mentioned in this week's Coaches Poll, including three in the top five: No. 1 Cornell, No. 2 Maryland, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 11 Duke, No. 12 Harvard, No. 14 Johns Hopkins, while Virginia and Colgate each received votes.
The same nine opponents were listed on the Media Poll: No. 1 Cornell, No. 2 Maryland, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 11 Duke, No. 13 Harvard, No. 14 Johns Hopkins, with Virginia and Colgate receiving votes.
The Orange open conference play this weekend at University of Virginia. Game time on Saturday, March 29 is slotted for a 1 p.m. start at Klöckner Stadium. ACC Network Extra will have the game with Corey Spector and Doug Tarring on the call.
