
English Added to Tewaaraton Watch List

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Syracuse University men's lacrosse graduate student Sam English was added to the Tewaaraton Watch List Thursday afternoon. The Tewaaraton Foundation announced 12 additions to its Watch List for the 2025 season.
English was one of two players from the ACC to be added to the Watch List this round, joined by Dominic Pietramala (UNC). English also joins Billy Dwan III, Owen Hiltz, and Joey Spallina on the Watch List, previously announced in early February.
Through the first six games of the 2025 season, English, a versatile two-way midfielder who also lines up on the faceoff wing, has seven goals and three assists to account for 10 points. He has at least one point in every game this season, including a hat trick against No. 15 Harvard (Feb. 22) and multi-point games against Jacksonville (Feb. 1) and No. 17 Towson (Feb. 10).
Off the ground, the Burlington, Ontario, Canada product has 15 ground balls and has caused four turnovers. Bolstering the Syracuse faceoff unit, Syracuse has a 63.2 faceoff winning percentage, fifth-best in Division I Joining the man-down unit, English has also backed the Orange to a 68.2 penalty kill percentage, the second-best penalty kill percentage in the ACC and the fifth-best in Division I for teams with at least 20 opponent extra-man chances.
No. 11 Syracuse and No. 7 Johns Hopkins battle Sunday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome. Opening faceoff is set for 2 p.m. between the sport's winningest programs. ESPNU will have the broadcast on Sunday with Jay Alter '16 and Paul Carcaterra '97 on the call.
