
Orange in Top Ten for Regular Season Finale

No. 10 Syracuse Hosts No. 8 North Carolina Saturday
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Entering the final week of regular season play, Syracuse University men's lacrosse slipped in both major polls this week's polls, but remained in the top 10 in one.
The Orange (9-4, 2-1 ACC) dropped to 10th in the USILA Division I Coaches Poll with 326 points after a setback at Duke last weekend. Syracuse slipped to 11th on the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll, picking up 242 points, just nine points outside the top 10.
Cornell occupied the top spot this week in the USILA Coaches Poll with 618 points and 30 of the 31 first-place votes. Maryland was second with 570 points and the remaining first-place nod. Princeton was third with 567 points with Ohio State in fourth at 507 points. Army West Point rounded out the top five with 494 points.
On the media side, Cornell was also in first with 460 points and all 23 first-place votes. Princeton was second with 427 points, edging out Maryland's 419 points. Army West Point was third with 375 points with Ohio State in fifth with 360 points.
Ten opponents from this season's schedule are mentioned in this week's USILA Division I Coaches Poll: No. 1 Cornell, No. 2 Maryland, No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 9 Duke, No. 12 Harvard, No. 16 Towson, with Virginia, Johns Hopkins, and Colgate all receiving votes.
Another 10 opponents were listed on the Media Poll this week: No. 1 Cornell, No. 3 Maryland, No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 9 Duke, No. 12 Harvard, No. 15 Towson, as Virginia, Johns Hopkins, and Jacksonville picked up votes.
No. 10/No. 11 Syracuse takes on eighth-ranked North Carolina this weekend for the regular season finale. Game time at the JMA Wireless Dome is set for 5 p.m. on ACC Network with Chris Cotter and All-American midfielder Paul Carcaterra '97 on the call.
