
’Cuse Returns to Top Five in Polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After taking down the number five team in the country, Syracuse University men's lacrosse returned to the top for the first time since February as both the USILA Division I Coaches Poll and Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll were released on Monday.
Syracuse (9-2, 2-0 ACC) dispatched Notre Dame, then ranked fifth in both polls, by a 14-9 count thanks to a nine-goal run and a 40-minute shutout in the middle of the game.
This week, Syracuse collected 496 points in the USILA Coaches Poll, slotting in the number four spot this week. Cornell, which takes on Syracuse on Long Island this weekend, was ranked first in the Coaches Poll, picking up 614 points with 25 first-place votes. Ohio State remained at number two with 581 points and five first-place votes. Princeton was third with 557 points while Army West Point racked 495 points for fifth this week. Maryland was ranked sixth and had the remaining first-place vote.
The Media Poll top five lined up the same way, with Cornell in first with 478 points and 22 top selections, followed by Ohio State with 444 points and one first-place vote. Princeton was just three points behind the Buckeyes with 441 points and the final top vote. Syracuse was fourth with 387 points with Army West Point in fifth with 376 points.
Eleven 2025 opponents were among those picking up votes in the Coaches Poll this week: No. 1 Cornell, No. 6 Maryland, No. 7 North Carolina, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 10 Harvard, No. 12 Duke, No.19 Johns Hopkins, with Colgate, Virginia, Jacksonville, and Towson picking up votes.
Ten foes for this season were among those named in the Media Poll: No. 1 Cornell, No. 6 Maryland, No. 7 North Carolina, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 10 Harvard, No. 12 Duke, No. 19 Johns Hopkins, as Colgate, Virginia, and Jacksonville also received votes.

Additionally, Syracuse student radio station WAER will be on hand for the game.
