
Men’s Lacrosse Third in Preseason Media Poll

BALTIMORE – With a week and a half standing between Syracuse University men's lacrosse and the 2026 season opener, the Orange are ranked third on the Inside Lacrosse Preseason KANE Division I Men's Lacrosse Media Poll.
Syracuse, which finished 13-6 in 2025 and reached NCAA Championship Weekend for the first time in a decade, picked up 413 points in a tight top three grouping. Maryland was voted first with 454 points and 17 first-place votes. Princeton was second with 410 points and one top selection.
Defending national champion Cornell was fourth with 370 points with Georgetown rounding out the top five with 343 points. North Carolina sixth with 335 points and the outstanding first-place vote.
All five ACC men's lacrosse programs were ranked in the top 15 of the preseason poll: No. 3 Syracuse, No. 6 North Carolina, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 11 Duke, and No. 14 Virginia.
Across the 2026 season, the Orange will play 14 teams mentioned in the Preseason Media Poll: No. 1 Maryland, No. 2 Princeton, No. 5 Georgetown, No. 6 North Carolina, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 11 Duke, No. 13 Harvard, No. 14 Virginia, No. 15 Johns Hopkins, No. 17 Boston University, with others receiving votes to include Colgate, Denver, Penn, and Saint Joseph's.
