
Men’s Lacrosse Second in Both Major Polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Setting up a One vs. Two showdown Friday night, Syracuse University men's lacrosse was ranked second in both major polls announced on Monday.
The second-ranked Orange host No. 1 Maryland Friday night for game two of a Syracuse vs. Number One doubleheader at the JMA Wireless Dome. The men's team meets the Terps at 6 p.m. on ACC Network with the No. 13 Syracuse women's team takes on No. 1 North Carolina at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. In the USILA Coaches Division I Coaches Poll, Syracuse (2-0) picked up 588 points and one first-place vote this week, one of six teams to receive a top vote. Maryland was first with 626 points and 23 first-place nods. Princeton was third with 576 points and two top selections with Cornell at 520 and four first-place votes in fourth. Georgetown rounded out the top five with 500 points, including a top selection. Notre Dame accounted for the final first-place vote with its 447 points for sixth place.
On the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll, Syracuse stayed in second with 388 points and one first-place vote. Maryland was the top team with 416 points and 17 first-place votes. Princeton was third with 380 points including one first-place vote. Cornell was Fourth with 338 points and the last two first-place selections with Georgetown close behind with 324 points.
Syracuse will face 11 teams ranked in the top 20 of the USILA Coaches Poll: No. 1 Maryland, No. 3 Princeton, No. 5 Cornell, No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 7 Duke, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 12 Virginia, No. 13 Harvard, No. 15 Johns Hopkins, No. 19 Boston University, No. 20 Denver, with Colgate and Air Force receiving votes.
