Starling Earns All-ACC Academic Men's Basketball

Senior J.J. Starling has been selected to the 2025-26 All-ACC Academic Men's Basketball Team.Â
The All-ACC Academic Men's Basketball Team is for student-athletes who have been enrolled at the institution for at least one academic year, earned a cumulative grade-point-average (GPA) of 3.00 (including a 3.00 GPA in the most recent two semesters), and competed in at least 50% of the team's contests.
A 2025-26 All-ACC Preseason Honorable Mention pick, Starling started all 30 games he competed in during campaign. He averaged 12.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 29.0 minutes played. During the course of the season he scored the 1,000 point of his Syracuse career.
Starling was named to the All-ACC Men's Basketball Academic Team in 2024 and 2025. He earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Honor Roll (3.0 academic year g.p.a.) in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
He was named to the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0 semester g.p.a.) in the Fall 2023, Spring 2024, Fall 2024, Spring 2025 and Fall 2025. Starling also earned 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
He is majoring in communications and rhetorical studies in the College of Visual & Performing Arts at Syracuse.
