Syracuse and Colgate Renew Hoop Rivalry

Syracuse will host Colgate, the program's most familiar foe, on Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the JMA Wireless Dome. It will be the 177th contest between the two schools on the hardwood.
The Syracuse-Colgate Series
     Former Syracuse standout Gerry McNamara enters his initial year at the helm of his alma mater. McNamara spent the last two seasons in charge at Siena, where he led the Saints to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
     The Orange have two returning regulars, sophomores Kiyan Anthony (8.0 ppg., 1.4 rpg.) and Sadiq White Jr. (6.1 ppg., 3.3 rpg.). A group of six incoming transfers includes Temple guard Aiden Tobiason (15.3 ppg., 3.7 rpg.), a junior, and guard Gavin Doty (18.0 ppg., 6.9 rpg.), a junior and 2025-26 MAAC First Team honoree at Siena.
Colgate
     Colgate was 18-15 overall and 11-7 in the Patriot League a season ago. The Raiders reached the Patriot League semifinals for the ninth straight year in 2025-26. Colgate captured five league crowns during that span.
     Matt Langel, the winningest coach in Colgate history, owns a 259-218 record in 15 seasons with the Raiders. Langel's top returning player is sophomore forward Andrew Alekseyenko (14.8 ppg., 6.7 rpg.), the 2025-26 Patriot League Rookie of the Year. Senior forward Sam Wright (12.3 ppg., 4.4 rpg.) is also back on the Raider roster.
