Coach Pasqualoni and Player Quotes Prior to East Carolina Game
On status of quarterback Troy Nunes and who will start at quarterback against East Carolina:
"Troy has a high hamstring pull. And those are usually more serious than regular hamstring pulls. He's pretty sore right now. Today we'd put Robin (R.J. Anderson) in. We're going to start him (Anderson) this week. We're not going to fool around this week. We can't, we're playing an awfully good football team this week."
On whether R.J. Anderson would start regardless of health of Troy Nunes:
"Robin, with the opportunities he's had, has played productively. In an effort to do what's best for the team, and in an effort to be as prepared as we can be considering how sore Troy is, and the fact that Robin has been productive, it's an accumulation of factors. We'll go with Robin this week."
On what coaches see in R.J. Anderson:
"When we go through the entire process selection of that position, it's been a long process. You have reasons as to why you select a guy. You have to be fair in evaluating. I don't think five minutes after a game you can make those evaluations without seeing the film. You (the media) think you see everything in the game, but believe me, after 30 years in this (coaching), you don?t see half of what you think you see. Nobody does. So you better put the film on. Before you start making comments, you better put the film on. That's what we do. That's the rule. You have plenty of time to do that. You don't have to do that five minutes after the game."
On change in East Carolina from Wake Forest game to Tulane game:
"I just think they executed better. There's not different plays or different players. David Garrard threw the ball well. Their scheme is a really unique scheme. They've seemed to fit the players they have into it very nicely."
On East Carolina quarterback David Garrard:
"He's a real big guy. He's strong. From a change-in-direction standpoint, he's probably unquestionably the quickest of the three quarterbacks we've seen (this season). He'll be the most elusive. He's got the strongest arm. We know from experience that he throws it the deepest and the longest of anyone we'll see. He presents some challenges."
On what Willie Ford has learned since last year's game against East Carolina:
"In last year's game, we went in there and played some zones that we hadn't played so much. In hindsight, we could play those zones, but we would've needed to practice a little bit more of those real deep ball in those zones. Each one of those deep balls that was hit against us (in last year's game) was a zone. It wasn't the same zone each time, but it was zone coverage. So we'd have to go back and we'll do that this week."
On play of defensive lineman Josh Thomas:
"Josh has done a good job. He had a big play on Saturday on a sack. Unfortunately the quarterback got hurt, but it was a good play. He's done well in run defense. He's played hard. He's made some tackles on some pass plays. He's doing a good job."
Player Quotes
Joe Burton, Offensive Lineman
On the Central Florida game and this week's game against East Carolina:
"I thought it was a great victory for us. We had two tough games against top 10 teams and we don't have anything to show for it. It's really disappointing. I think being able to look at the victory (against Central Florida) is great for the team to build momentum going into next week which is a huge game against East Carolina."
On the running game against Central Florida:
"Our offense is really trying to find ourselves and I think last week was a big part of it. I think we came into our own. We did what we wanted to do. The first half, we really weren't that effective. In the second half we came out with the attitude that we were just going to run the ball. I think that's something, as an offensive lineman, you really look forward to. I think that will continue to be part of our mentality and who we are."
On the chemistry of the offensive line:
"I think it has a lot to do with the way we're playing now. It really helps when four of the five guys are fifth-year seniors. We know each of us is going to make the blocks and make the right calls. It's a big factor in the way you play. You feel more comfortable."
Willie Ford, Defensive Back
On the Central Florida game and this week's game against East Carolina:
"It's good to get a victory under our belts. We have a big game coming up against East Carolina. Personally I'm going into this game with a chip on my shoulder because of the way I played last year. Last week's victory is over and done with and now we're looking forward to East Carolina."
On what he expects against East Carolina:
"I expect to see a lot of balls coming at me every week. It just so happens that this week is East Carolina. This is a game I've been looking forward to for awhile, probably since last year's game."
On how the team will prepare for East Carolina's offense:
"I don't think you prepare any differently. It's just a different team. Every team has their deal. This team just happens to throw the ball really high and really deep. We'll just go in and practice for them."
On his confidence level:
"After that game (Tennessee), I was down on myself. I felt like I let my team down. And the team's like my family so I felt like I let my family down. I know that I'm a senior on this team and I know what I have to do. I have to go out there and compete. The only way I can show my family I deserve to be out there is to play hard."
