Assistant Coach Christie McCoy<br>Third Season
Christie McCoy is in her third season with the Orangewomen. McCoy works with the SU pitchers, as well has assist with all facets of the program, including recruiting and gameday preparation.
McCoy came to SU from the University of Texas-San Antonio. Her duties with the Roadrunners included coordinating recruiting, travel and scheduling. McCoy coached the pitching staff in addition to developing and implementing the Roadrunners' conditioning program. She also served on the coaching staff at the University of Nebraska, her alma mater, from 1998-2000.
McCoy graduated from Nebraska in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in communication studies. While with the Huskers, she garnered second-team All-American honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as a designated player. She was also a first-team All-Big XII and All-Midwest Region selection in 1998. That season, McCoy helped the fifth-ranked Huskers to a Big XII conference championship and a berth in the College World Series. She was second on the team with a .326 batting average, 17 home runs and 41 runs batted in. McCoy also pitched for Nebraska, compiling a 5-1 record and a 2.10 ERA. Nebraska finished the year 48-12, including a perfect 20-0 in the Big XII regular season and conference tournament.
Despite just two years with the program, McCoy ranks sixth all-time at Nebraska with a .332 career batting average and is fourth on the all-time home run ledger with 26. McCoy began her collegiate career in the junior college ranks at the College of San Mateo (CA) where she was an All-State selection.
McCoy went on to play for the Tampa Bay Firestix and Carolina Diamonds of the Women's Professional Softball League. Professionally, McCoy posted an 0.78 ERA in 1999 with the Diamonds.
