Coach Boeheim Quotes
Georgia Tech at Syracuse
Dec. 21, 2002
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
"We played as well defensively as we’ve played in a long time. We handled their pressure. Last year their pressure killed us. I don’t know how many million turnovers we had down there last year and we didn’t turn it over hardly at all tonight. Once we got that first stage going Hakim (Warrick) got us going and then Carmelo (Anthony) got it going and hit a couple."
On Carmelo Anthony:
"He’s like all good players. Once they miss a couple, they don’t worry about it. They think they are going to make the next one."
On Gerry McNamara:
He’s one of the best freshman in the country, I think. He came out with a mindset. He is a big game player. He’s been the guy for four years, he’s used to making plays. He’s had to scale back his game from what he’s used to. Tonight I thought he didn’t scale anything back. He came out aggressive and I thought people looked for him and started to find him better."
On SU's rebounding:
"We rebounded pretty well in the first half. I think outside of Bosh, they go with a pretty small team. They’re pretty small. We felt coming in we had to get on the boards and we did get there early and got a couple. We did a pretty good job on our defensive boards. Better than normal."
